My placement at finding rainbows has offered me a fantastic opportunity to work alongside some amazing people who have experienced baby loss and are looking to heal.
All my clients journeys have been very different and they are all individual; their journeys very different which has allowed me some fantastic experience.
I feel privileged to have had the opportunity work with an amazing charity who offer essential support; which has been integral to the the client’s healing.❤️🩹
I have been supported by the amazing team at finding rainbows since starting my placement: their work is outstanding and I’m privileged to be part of the team.
Having a placement at Finding Rainbows is vastly different from my usual role in Finance. I find the experience impactful and rewarding. Despite coming from a different professional background Finding Rainbows has welcomed me with open arms. Providing this opportunity has helped me support people on their challenging journey of baby loss.

In my experiences Finding Rainbows 🌈 is more then a charity and offers people warmth, unconditional positive regard and empathy to all the people that go through their doors.

I have been working as a student counsellor for Finding Rainbows since November 2022. I have completed my entire placement and am now at 120+ hours with a diverse mix of clients. I have found the placement leader Natalie Paul approachable, warm and accommodating and really believe that Finding Rainbows provides a very high standard of support and community engagement when people need it most. Child loss or bereavement affects all areas of people's lives and is not just about the grieving process. This could be relationships, finances, mental health, self-worth, spiritual issues and much more- a whole gamut. And this is why I have belief that the organisation goes about this in the right way by not limiting the number of one-to-one sessions a client can have, as often there is a whole lifetime to process alongside the present state of grief. I am aware that a lot of my clients have also got a great deal from the support groups or events such as memorial services that are arranged and this can be lifechanging. I have witnessed this first hand! I work for another local organisation dealing with substance misuse and indeed have referred some of my clients in, as I believe they are such a valuable resource.
From a personal perspective, I am very pleased that I decided to do my placement here and feel they could do with more financial support. There were always clients available on the waiting list and I never had any issues taking new clients on or having them assigned. Funding would be required so that responsibilities for allocations, handovers and safeguarding do not fall on one individual.
Despite this, I know how much the people that work for the organisation care and there was always somebody available when required or needed. They offered me personally a room when required so that my client could continue seeing me face to face and kept the building open later. Such accommodating care for both students and the clients leads to a feeling of mutual respect within the organisation. I would like to thank Natalie and Finding Rainbows ever so much for helping me to become a fully qualified therapist, who has met some wonderful clients along the way. I will be sad to leave and hope that they can continue their fantastic work moving forward.
